3 Million Citizens Lack Access To Pipe Borne Water – Water Aid SL

Water Aid Sierra Leone has disclosed that more than 3,000,000 Sierra Leoneans lack access to basic pipe borne water or covered well close to their homes, thus making it harder to cope with the negative impacts of climate change.

In recently commemorating the World Water Day, Water Aid SL in a press release stated that the government must not forget the vital role water plays in the prevention and readiness against the deadly coronavirus scourge as various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and private institutions have hand washing stations at their entrances which is clear indication of the essence of water.

Water Aid SL warned that the unavailability and insufficient supply of clean water in homes and offices would affect the hand washing hygiene prevention as a safe guard against the spread of the virus, and will not be fully achieved.

Water Aid SL urged government to increase budget allocated to the Ministries of Water Resources in order to make water available and sufficient for the people.
