2,500 Jobs For 2 Chiefdoms


Chairman of SELI Hydropower, Patrick Beckley at the handing over ceremony of land for the construction of Bumbuna Phase II on the 10th of August, 2018 disclosed that the project will provide 2,500 jobs for young people in Dian and Kalanthuba Chiefdoms.

The Chairman commended the political will provided by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and the Energy Minister, Alhaji Kanja Sesay which, he said, was a motivating factor and commitment on the part of government towards the project.

He affirmed the company’s financial confidence and strong willingness for the construction of the dam within the stipulated timeframe.

On his part, the General Manager of the Company, Mr. Herb Gammon assured that they will live up to expectation as according to him, they are committed to ensure that the project become a reality.

Mr. Gammon, promise that the confidence reposed on SELI Hydropower by the President Bio government in a short time will not go down the drain. He thanked the people of the two chiefdoms for donating their lands for the said project.

The Deputy General Manager in his contribution disclosed that Phase II of Bumbuna Hydro project will have an installed capacity of 143MWs and will supply power throughout the year. Energy, he said, is the cornerstone of the development of any country, adding that the provision of sustainable and affordable electricity supply is very critical to national development.
