2 APC Big Guns Join SLPP

President Julius Maada Bio’s historic thank-you visit on Friday 26th October, 2018 to the eastern city of Kenema witnessed the crossing over of two All People’s Congress (APC) stalwarts to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

One of them is Chief Joseph Moijueh Gbetuwa aka Gbos-Gbos, a former SLPP councilor in the Kailahun District Council. He is a close relative of the veteran SLPP politician, John Oponjo Benjamin, who contested against President Bio for the SLPP 2018 presidential flag-bearer position.

Gbos-Gbos pitched tent with APC after John O. Benjamin relinquished the position of SLPP National Chairman and Leader and enjoyed a very good relationship with former President Ernest Bai Koroma, the late Resident Minister – East, APC’s William Juana Smith and his successor Maya Moiwo Kaikai.

The other APC stalwart that crossed over to SLPP is the APC Kenema District Chairlady, Madam Elsie Kondomor, who is also the Vice Chairlady of the powerful female sorority, the National Soweis Council. Soweis are the female heads of Bondo societies. As such, Madam Kondomor commands a large national female following.

It could be recalled that from the 1977 General Elections, Gbos-Gbos had always been notorious for supporting any successful candidate or political party in power and had never suffered in opposition.
