150-Bed Hospital For Samu Chiefdom

The Deputy Minister of Labour, Mr. Lansana Dumbuya who doubles as the Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Kambia district has said that President Julius Maada Bio is a blessed president who since he took over the reigns of governance a lot of developmental projects is taking place across the country .

He made these statements this past Friday, 15th January, 2021 at Lutty village , Samu Chiefdom Kambia during the turning of the sod for the construction of a state-of-the-art 150-bed hospital.

This project is undertaking by NGO registered in Sierra Leone and the US, the Abdul Aziz Islamic Foundation (AAIF).

The Deputy Minister of Labour said the SLPP delegates made no mistake to elect President Bio as leader of the party and that the people of Sierra Leone also made a wise decision by voting him as President. He said the government will support the Foundation to construct the said 50 beds hospital. 

The Resident Minister North – West  Hon. Haja Ishata Abdulai Kamara thanked the CEO of the AAIF, Mr. Abdul Aziz Sahid Kamara a Sierra Leonean based in the US for coming back to help his people.

She called on the people of Kambia to send their children to school, noting that with education they can alleviate poverty. She also thanked the CEO of the Foundation for the love he and his wife has for the people of Sierra Leone and assured the CEO that she will present the architectural designs of the hospital to the Vice President.

Giving an overview of the project, the CEO of the Foundation, Mr. Kamara said the Foundation was founded in 2012 in the US and registered in Sierra Leone. He said since the founding of the AAIF, they have embarked on lot of charity issues to the people including donation of bags of rice, distribution of books at FBC and COMAHS. He said, they also assisting in health related issues and have secured funds of 90 percent from the World Bank and the EU, adding that the people of Lutry village provide d11.7 acres of land for the project and that the Foundation has spent over Le200M for the starting so that the donors will know that they are serious with the project.

The District Health Medical Officer of Kambia District, Dr JS Bangura  chaired the ceremony. Other speakers include, Alhaji Aloha Kallon, Chairman SLPP Elders Committee, Northern Region, Alhaji Dr. Alpha Kanu of the APC and Hon. Foday Mario Kamara of NGC in Constituency  057 who represented Hon Dr. Kandeh Yumkella and the MP for Samu Chiefdom.

The ceremony was climaxed with singing and dancing by  cultural groups.
